Crimped brush filament is engineered with controlled waves along each strand to increase bulk, paint load, and stable release. The crimp creates capillary channels that pull coatings in and meter them out evenly, reducing lap marks and improving edge control. Materials and construction. PBT and PET are the most common polymers because they offer solvent resistance, stiffness retention, and colorfastness. For paint brushes, denser crimp increases bulk without extra weight.
Performance checklist. Aim for water absorption ≤0.5%, softening point aligned to your bake or cleanup temperature (typically 120–150 °C), low shrinkage, and consistent cut length. Properly crimped filament reduces shedding at the ferrule or epoxy set and speeds cleanup afterwards.
