Part 2: Synthetic bristles
Synthetic filaments are currently the mainstream material for paint brushes, recommended for use with water-based paints. Their hydrophobic surface offers excellent paint release efficiency for water-based paints, resulting in a non-sticky feel and smooth handling.
In contrast, animal hair, being a natural material, has an unstable supply and price fluctuations, making it harder to control brush characteristics. Synthetic filament materials not only provide stable prices and material supply but also allow for control over filament thickness to adjust hardness and finesse.
The tips can be processed to a fine point, and different polymer materials can be blended to create brushes with varied performance, greatly enhancing the controllability of brush effects. The three main common materials are:

Polyester material has a higher hardness, providing better strength and support when made into brushes. It is also more wear-resistant, making it suitable for rough surfaces. The surface of polyester filaments is rougher than that of nylon, which enhances their ability to hold paint.
